| O'Neal is a southern highbush variety that combines the heat adaptability of southern types with the large berry size and outstanding flavor typically associated with highbush blueberries. It ripens early in the season and rewards growers with some of the most intensely flavored fresh blueberries available, a variety that serious berry lovers tend to seek out by name. O'Neal is well-suited to the warmer valley soils around Franklin and pairs nicely with rabbiteye varieties to create a long, staggered harvest season. Self-fertile; however, they will produce a higher yield when planted with another Southern Highbush variety that blooms at the same time. Blooms early to mid spring. |
