| A delightful departure from the blueberry row, Red Candy lingonberry is a low-growing, evergreen shrub that produces two crops of tart, jewel-red berries each year, one in early summer and another in fall. Lingonberries are closely related to blueberries and share the same love of acidic, well-drained mountain soils, making Western North Carolina an excellent home for them. The berries are traditionally made into jams and sauces with a bright, complex tartness that has no real substitute, and the compact plants double as a beautiful evergreen groundcover. Self fertile. |
