| Blue Jay is a mid-season northern highbush variety that thrives in the cooler elevations of Western North Carolina, producing firm, flavorful berries that hold up exceptionally well for fresh eating and freezing. Northern highbush varieties are right at home in our mountain climate, enjoying the cold winters and cool summer nights that bring out their best flavor. Blue Jay's tidy, upright growth habit also makes it one of the neater-looking shrubs in the summer garden. Self-fertile; however, they will produce a higher yield when planted with another North Highbush variety that blooms at the same time. Blooms mid spring. |
